AECT Clubs & Organizations
Overview
The Department of Agricultural Education, Communications and Technology works with
six organizations that give students the opportunity to become involved. Students
often find that getting involved in these organizations provides a way of making new
friends and gaining skills that aide in their personal and professional growth. These
organizations provide opportunities for students to improve their leadership and communication
skills that will benefit them in the future.
Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow (ACT)
Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow is designed for students with an interest in agricultural communications and journalism. The organization, one of the strongest collegiate agriculture organizations nationally, gives members an opportunity to interact with others with similar interests professionally and at the college level.
Agricultural Mechanics Club
The Ag Mech club is an organization for all students interested in agricultural technology. In addition to monthly meetings and professional development trips, club members conduct (with ACT) a spring lawnmower tune-up clinic and assist with the Arkansas State FFA Agricultural Technology and Mechanical Systems CDE.
Collegiate 4-H
The purpose of a collegiate 4-H program is service, leadership development and professional development. Collegiate 4-H activities can range from working directly with state, county or local 4-H groups to serving as volunteer leaders for projects, educational workshops, contests, judging competitions or assisting with service projects. Additionally, Collegiate 4-H programs are to be actively involved in campus activities through the involvement in community service projects and promoting positive youth development.
Collegiate Farm Bureau
Collegiate Farm Bureau was formed in 2002 with support from the Arkansas Farm Bureau Federation. Its goals are to motivate students to become involved in shaping agricultural policy for the state and nation. Members participate in several leadership development opportunities, including the State Collegiate Discussion Meet as well as the State Young Farmers and Ranchers Discussion Meet.
FFA Alumni and Supporters
The FFA Alumni chapter at the University of Arkansas strives to help students who support FFA and agricultural education. Whether you were an FFA member in high school or not, this is an opportunity for you to join a registered student organization that supports agricultural education.
R.E.P.S.
Members share their college experiences with prospective FFA and 4-H members, students and parents, as well as plan and host departmental events for current students. Applications are made available each semester.
