Programs

Our Programs

Undergraduate and graduate degrees

Our department focuses on developing individuals who will contribute to the continued success of the agriculture industry. Graduates are skilled in education, communication and technology management. Many become the leaders of technological change in agriculture.

We offer an undergraduate major with four concentration options, a masters program and a Ph.D. concentration program. We also offer minors in each of our undergraduate concentrations.

Instruction in the department is theory-based, yet hands-on in many cases. Faculty members share and value the applied learning philosophy on which the land grant university system was built. Laboratory sessions and experimental learning opportunities such as internships are integral parts of the department's instruction efforts.

Ag Communication

Agricultural Communication

This concentration is designed to produce graduates with strong interpersonal and public communications skills combined with technical knowledge about the food and fiber industry.

Ag Education

Agricultural Education

Graduates are in high demand as teachers of agriculture and the related sciences in the nation's schools. A shortage of teachers of agriculture has existed for several decades. As programs continue to expand and new programs are added, this trend will continue.

Ag Leadership

Agricultural Leadership

The agricultural leadership concentration is designed to prepare students for leadership positions in community, state, and national agricultural organizations and agencies.

Ag Mechanics

Agricultural Systems Technology Management

This concentration prepares individuals for technical careers in agricultural industries and businesses, production agriculture and allied organizations.
