Agricultural Leadership

Students choosing the agricultural leadership concentration complete interdisciplinary course work focused on leadership, communication, and business principles in the food and fiber industry. The concentration works to equip students with the development of key indicators of future professional success, including:

  • Personal leadership (including team building, goal setting, and professional skills)
  • Strategic thinking and behavior
  • Critical thinking and problem solving
  • Ability to work with diverse populations
  • Communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Service learning
  • Community and organizational leadership

The agricultural leadership concentration is designed to prepare students for leadership positions in community, state, and national agricultural organizations and agencies.

Along with course work in the Dale Bumpers College, the student will be provided an opportunity for internships within the agricultural industry. Students can also become a member of Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow (ACT). This organization provides its members with a broad network of professional contacts and recognizes professional excellence and growth in agricultural leadership.
